In a culture steeped in tradition and status, the Trimaran represented a portal to speeds only the elite could previously enjoy. Throughout history yachting was a game powered by length at the waterline and canvas in the air. Critical elements of boat building requiring vast amounts of capital and manpower. Suddenly a relatively affordable vessel could outpace exotic and expensive monohull sailboats with ease exploded on the scene.  A backlash by the Yachting world commonly banned Trimarans from harbors, clubs and racing events. This created an environment ripe for Trimaran Pioneers exploits so daring they would capture the imagination of boating world.
